The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic, war-time veterans organization, devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is a not-for-profit community-service organization which now numbers nearly 3 million members, in nearly 15,000 American Legion posts worldwide. Post 137 is approximately 1,700 members strong and is located at 5443 San Juan Avenue, Jacksonville, Florida 32210.
It's that time of year again, and Hurricane season is upon us. That means some great hurricane parties, but it's also the time for some serious reflection on how prepared you really are. Check the "Hurricanes and Weather" section of our Disaster Preparedness Center, and subscribe to the Florida Legion Emergency Information Network.
Florida Legion Emergency Information Network
I recommend signing up for the Florida Legion Emergency Information Network. It's a Google group that can send you email updates on weather threatening the State of Florida. I have these alerts going to my cell phone and find them quite handy. It's run by Jim Roberts, Past SAL Detatchment Commander who has a professional background in emergency management. Just follow the 'Subscribe' link below to get signed up!

SPECIAL THANKS A big Thank You goes out to Walter Rasco, who has taken over the online Calendar of Events and Rick Wiggs who has taken over the Photo Gallery. This has been a huge help to me having a day job. Thank you gentlemen. - Jonathan
